How we test at ChairWise
Every product, pattern, or pick on this site goes through the same review process. We disclose what we paid, how long we tested, and what bias we tried to remove. If a step in this list does not match what you are reading, that is a bug — tell us and we will fix it or pull the post.
How we test
-
Step 1
Every chair, desk, and arm is purchased at retail and tested for at least 60 days; manufacturer samples are not accepted.
-
Step 2
Each product is evaluated across 8 body types (height + weight + sitting style) and 3 working styles (focused-typing, meeting-heavy, mixed) — never reduced to an average user.
-
Step 3
Ergonomic claims are checked against current OT/PT guidance and our reviewer's clinical training; we cite the source for any pain or posture claim.
-
Step 4
We name the price-quality cliff for each category — the point above which more dollars stop buying more comfort — and tell you when the cheaper pick wins.
-
Step 5
Partner links use the retailer where we actually bought the product; we do not chase the highest commission rate.
-
Step 6
Pulled-from-rotation picks are tracked in a public 'no longer recommended' archive with the reason and the date.
Disclosure
We earn a commission on some of the products linked from this site. That commission never changes which products we recommend or how we score them. See the full disclosures for the unabridged version.
